Based on the manga, Kurono Kei and Katou Masaru help a man that falls into the train tracks but get killed by the train. They somehow end up in a mission to kill aliens in order to decide the fate of their lives.
I watched both movies at the movie theater, both in English subs.
The movie is starred by Ninomiya Kazunari and Matsuyama Kenichi, big time and great actors~ I can’t believe Nino is older than MatsuKen… Anyways, I really love this selection because they look totally like the characters in the manga. They even portray their characters very well. Nino is very hot in the movie! The fighting scenes, kyaaaaaa XD
Both movies have violent battle scenes but the manga is even more violent and has more graphic scenes. There are funny scenes as well, like Gantz’s humor.
One thing attracts me is that the black suit glows when it releases its special abilities. Uwaaaa, so pretty!!!!!! I want one!!! It has to glow and has supernatural powers though XD
GANTZ

The movie is veeeeeeery close to the manga. The battles between the aliens, the other characters… The live action comes straight out of the manga.
There are some differences. The main characters are older, Kurono is in uni instead of high school. Kurono keeps on thinking about the same perspective of humans over and over again. In the manga, he doesn’t really think much about humans. The way Kurono in the movie tests out the black suit’s power is funny!
Another difference between the movie and the manga is that Tae shows up very early. Her story has a bit more depth. It’s better than the manga because the manga version of her is not so exciting. I also like the movie more because Yoshitaka Yuriko plays as her. She’s better than manga Tae XD
I can’t stand watching gross stuff but I’m able to stand watching those parts because I’ve already knew what’s going to happen. However, I still close my eyes when the bodies explode and such.
The same things happening between Kurono and Katou in the manga are also in the movie, I’m happy ^.^ XD
I’m surprised that the movie ends there because the manga goes way further than that. I keep thinking that there’s more but it ends there. There is a hint that it’s ending from the background music and, “That’s it?”
The movie also feels short because it doesn’t seem like anything is happening. The movie has only alien battles, one after another, like in the manga.
Overall, I really enjoy watching the movie because it’s interesting to see the manga coming out alive.
GANTZ PERFECT ANSWER

Continues from the very last scene from the first movie. The very last scene in the first movie really surprises me. It’s shifts away from the manga. Overall, this movie is totally different from the manga, in opposed to the first movie.
There are made-up characters, like the journalist played by Yamada Takayuki. He doesn’t really have a big role in the storyline. He’s just a witness to the alien battles. And then, there’s a celebrity named Ayukawa Eriko. There is a celebrity in the manga but she’s totally different from her. And there is a few other characters that aren’t in the manga.
Even though the story is totally different from the manga, I enjoy watching this movie. The action scenes are the best! Lots of Nino and MatsuKen eye-candy. They look so cool in action~ The coolest battle is the one where they are inside the train. I also love their battle together with the alien. Sword fights totally suck me in~ This movie is action-packed, a good recommendation for people who like action movies.
It’s hard to compare the first movie to the second one because one follows the manga and the other one doesn’t. The stuff in the second movie never happens in the manga and the manga hasn’t ended yet, so I think of the second movie as an AU. I don’t believe the stuff happening there is real (aka, is the original story).
adding you up from lj (insane_desire) anyway, wow you watched perfect answer already? I WANT! I liked Gantz.
Yea, it was on theaters a month after the first movie came out XD I like GANTZ too! Need to catch up with the manga some time..
Hmmm so you did see both Gantz movies. ^_^ well Japan Society is going to be airing both movies..
Yep, they showed both of them in theaters ^.^ Too bad I won’t be there when Japan Society show it.
